A lot of work left to do on it to make it pretty, but this one is worth showing off early. I present to you what I believe to be the very first functional Nitefinder true handgun with full-size working slide. It's been on the backburner for a while since I never knew exactly how to approach it from a mechanical standpoint, but the solution was simpler than expected- as it usually is. Since the first handgun build I tried was called the Quixilver Prototype, this one is destined to me named the Mercury-01.
I know a lot of people are working on similar things, and have been for a while. And I know that a lot of those people are insanely talented fabricators, which I am not. So, I figured, might as well just be the first.
Always possible, but I like to think of it as knowing your weaknesses in order to improve upon them in the future. Certainly I'm a far better found-artist than fabricator. But, that skill, too, shall come.
Well, like I said, has some work to go. The problem with scouts is that they're small and unintimidating on movie sets... they're stealth weapons. This thing is just slightly bigger than a standard magnum pistol and will have some real heft to it when finished. Plus, you know me, always trying to subvert Nerf's intended shapes. Though they used to make a gun called The Professional which was closer to a real world pistol than this is... but talk about hard to find!
