Cyberpunk Revolver Rifle: One Night's Work

Description

I've been toying with this one for a while and now I can finally do it. Steampunk revolver rifles have been done to death, and I already did a Post-Apoc one... time to break the mold with a Cyberpunk variant. And to kick it up a notch, let's make it the world's first Nerf Hammershot Rifle Conversion.

Step one, attach a barrel. A Recon barrel did nicely and there was a nice surface to attach it to. But, it didn't fire right. Using a cannibalized Longshot's inner barrel and a plastic buffer, I was able to attach a tube connector leading from the dart to the barrel which fixed the problem. Sexy. It was still a little unstable, so in the last body stage I used a chopped water gun part as a stabilizing bar between the upper parts of both the Recon Barrel and the Hammershot's tac rail. Interestingly, had I left it like this, it would have made a very sexy oversized pistol.

Step two, get a stock on there. Easier said that done. I had a nice plastic stock laying around waiting for just such a purpose, but it needed to be elevated and re-angled. I used a scrapped Eliminator's handle to raise the stock up, and some clever cutting to angle it. However, glue alone wasn't gonna hold it, so I used tape to hold it in place while I affixed the already-attached riser and stock with epoxy and epoxy putty. 15 minutes later I removed the tape and sanded it down- looks amazing! Some of the cleanest merge work I've ever done.

Step three, that's where we are now. Yay! Tomorrow: Body details, more barrel, reinforcement, sanding. Weekend: Painting and final details.
